Introducing Sentinel: Trust for AI Agents
How we built a security layer that enables AI agents to take real-world actions without compromising on safety.
AI agents are getting powerful. GPT-4 can write code. Claude can analyze documents. But can you trust them to execute a $10M wire transfer? Today, the answer is no. And that's the problem we're solving with Sentinel.
The Agent Trust Problem
"The question isn't whether AI agents can do the work. It's whether you can trust them to."
As AI agents move from "assistants" to "actors," they need to interact with real systems: execute financial transactions, modify production databases, sign legal documents, control physical systems.
Without a trust layer, organizations face an impossible choice: limit AI capabilities, or accept unacceptable risk.
Why Trust Matters
The stakes are real:
- Financial Services: Unauthorized trades, fraudulent transfers
- Healthcare: Incorrect dosages, privacy breaches
- Infrastructure: System outages, security vulnerabilities
We needed a solution that enables AI capabilities without compromising on safety.
The Sentinel Architecture
Sentinel provides three core primitives:
Identity & Authentication — Every agent gets a cryptographic identity. We know exactly which agent took which action, with full audit trails.
Policy Enforcement — Define what agents can do with declarative policies. Set constraints on values, assets, and approval thresholds.
Runtime Verification — Every action is verified before execution. Anomaly detection catches agents behaving unexpectedly.
Built on Solana
We chose Solana for Sentinel's core because:
- Speed: 400ms finality for real-time verification
- Cost: Sub-cent transactions for high-frequency checks
- Transparency: On-chain audit trail
Early Results
Beta partners are seeing:
- 100% reduction in unauthorized agent actions
- 85% faster deployment of new agent capabilities
- Zero security incidents since deployment
What's Next
Sentinel is currently in private beta with select enterprise partners. We're expanding access in Q1 2025.
